2009 Legislative Conference in Washington, D.C.

Agents for Change held its fifth annual legislative conference from June 23 - 25, 2009.  Forty producers met with 70 Congressional offices (including 28 member meetings) to discuss their support of insurance regulation reform.  Attendees furthered their relationships with elected officials, engaged in substantive conversation on insurance regulation reform, and networked with peers.

Bar none, this was our most successful legislative conference to date.  Due in large part to our meetings on Capitol Hill, the National Insurance Consumer Protection Act (H.R. 1880) picked up two additional co-sponsors.

Participants heard from high level guest speakers including Representatives Melissa Bean (D-IL) and Ed Royce (R-CA), Governor Frank Keating, President and CEO of the American Council of Life Insurers, Steve Bartlett, President and CEO of the Financial Services Roundtable, and Brian Atchinson, President and CEO of the Insurance Marketplace Standards Association.

Lastly, attendees enjoyed a Washington Nationals baseball game and attended personal tours of the Federal Reserve and the National Museum of American History.

Please let us know if you are interested in joining us in Washington, D.C. for our 2010 legislative conference.
